The Children's Crusade (1930 play by Lucian Blaga)

Expressionism is a movement that was active in Germany, but did not constitute a real trend in Romanian literature of the interwar period. However, the major poet Lucian Blaga was - especially in his early volumes - influenced significantly by expressionism and, as such, the term continues to circulate until today. Many other writers of the period have been retrospectively dubbed as "expressionist", from George Bacovia and Adrian Maniu to Ion Vinea, Max Blecher, Scarlat Callimachi or Isac Peltz.
