Radu Petrescu (b. 31 August 1927 - d. 1 February 1982) was a Romanian novelist associated with the Târgoviște School. The novel Matei Iliescu (1970) and the journal Ocheanul întors are considered his masterpieces. Considered a forerunner of postmodernism, he was heavily promoted by the critic Ion Bogdan Lefter, who seeked to reserve him a central place in the postwar literary canon.
